The Bourbon County-Nicholas County Regional Industrial Park is a joint effort to ensure continued economic growth and development for both counties. Bourbon County has seen sustained economic growth and successful business attraction over the past several years and has partnered with Nicholas County to create space for continued growth which will benefit both communities. Beginning in 2022 with their first KDPI application the counties have come together to place a joint industrial park on the county line located in Nicholas County. The site currently enjoys upcoming investment of $1.9 million in ARC SOAR funds and $0.8 million in HB723/GRANT funds through KCED to extend water infrastructure to the site.
Over the past four years this site has seen increased interest and growing cooperation with the Joint Board which has led to the realization of meaningful state and federal investments to get the site ready for corporate use. The continued dedication of both communities shows a strong commitment and dedication to bring this brand-new industrial site online.
The KDPI application in 2022 directly led to the acquisition of the property. Success in 2022 led to the formal formation of the Bourbon County-Nicholas County Regional Industrial Park through interlocal agreement. Since then, funding has successful with the ARC SOAR funds and HB723/GRANT funds which will allow for water service extension to the site. KPDI 2024 funds were awarded for grading and earthwork.
Rail Upgrades for rail freight, LG&E Substation upgrades to increase electrical capacity at the site. Any remaining funds needed for Wasterwater infrastructure not covered by this application, most likely treatment plant upgrades at Millersburg, KY. There will be upgrade needs for connection to Columbia Gas nearby natural gas pipeline and funds for ingress roads into the site. Bourbon-Nicholas Board anticipates Congressional and/or Federal EDA funding that may be used on Sewer or Earth Work.
